Dr Elspeth Whitby heads the service at Sheffield, working in close collaboration with the radiographers, physicist, radiographic aids and fetal medicine specialists.

Elspeth has been doing fetal MRI since 1998 and is instrumental in driving the service forward.

As well as providing a clinical service she is actively involved in research to improve the service for patients and expand the role of fetal MRI in the clinical arena.

To ensure a service that the patients want she works alongside a medical sociologist (Dr Kate reed) looking at the role of MRI in imaging the fetus and the various different aspects of the service.
